Whilst the seats in the Swift don't offer the most lumbar support, aren't leather and don't have built in massagers, they were far more ......over the years. Furthermore, in my experience the fabric on all of the seats is incredibly hard wearing, and still looks as good as it did the day I bought it. You feel securely held when going round corners, and they're easy to get out of. The adjustable steering column is much appreciated by me, being well over 6ft, with the headunit and window / door lock buttons in easy reach whilst driving. The gear stick is also reassuringly solid, and looks ... more I bought my Swift almost two years ago, it was first registered in 2005. On the outside the car looks great! Having bought my Swift in white it seems like no matter how many hours I spend polishing it the panels never shine, but that's my fault. The heated and electrically adjustable mirrors are great, and quite large for a car of its size. Adding a black stripe kit and spoiler is well worth doing and changes the look of the car completely. The 15" alloy wheels that came with this model look really good on the car though low profile tyres are a must to get the outside looking its best! The engine bay looks good, and with a gold manifold gives you something to show off to your friends. The keyless entry system on the Swift is the only one of its kind I know, and is also really good, albeit a bit strange to get used to in the beginning. The gear stick is also reassuringly solid, and looks great with the optional chrome trim.On the right hand side of the steering wheel you have the option to cancel any illuminated displays when using headlights during the day, turn on fog lights if you have them and a blanking panel for any extra switches you may decide to put there later on. The air vents on the swift also twist round 360 degrees, enabling you to direct the air flow in any direction you want. The centre console display offers you the time, outside temperature and a fuel efficiency readout in a variety of formats, all of which are virtually useless as the display refreshes every second.The headunit responds well to the controls on the steering wheel and matches the rest of the red illuminated interior very well. MP3 Cds are not supported on the 2005 model. Sound quality is relatively good for stock speakers. Installing a separate amp/sub has improved sound from the stock headunit dramatically. The pedals on the swift take a while to get used to. The hydraulic clutch has a very high biting point and cannot be adjusted, which caused me major difficulty to start with. The accelerator is very sensitive and with size 13 feet makes it almost impossible to steadily hold the car on a hill. The brakes however are perfect, and the car stops very quickly. Another thing I liked about this car was that my feet weren't rubbing against an exposed part of the steering column when driving, as they did in the Mini Cooper and Corsa.The 1.5 is quick, producing around 100bhp. The engine needs to be revved hard to get the best out of it, is very quiet when idling but produces a fantastic roar when under load. The car pulls well up hills in the low rev ranges and is very responsive when overtaking at the higher end, thanks in part to the variable valve timing on this model. Fuel economy on the Swift is good, but not as good as the quoted figures. From Devon to Southampton and back I used 3/4 of a tank when the car was fully loaded on both trips, which is roughly 400 miles. The car handles very well round corners and feels solidly attached to the ground at all times.Leg room in the back and boot space are relatively good but nothing to write home about. For a car that feels so big, and it does feel very wide when you're driving it, both the boot space and leg room sit firmly in the realms of mediocrity compared to other super-minis. That said, if you're not taking the whole family on holiday in this car, the back seats fold down very efficiently allowing you to carry an inordinate amount of stuff for two people.
